BiographyChristine Varga-Harris received her Ph.D. in Russian history from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has published articles on postwar Moscow and the social aspects of Khrushchev-era housing policy. She is currently working on a book manuscript entitled Constructing the Soviet Hearth: Home, Citizenship and Socialism in Russia, 1956-1964. Her teaching interests include Russia from the earliest times through the collapse of the Soviet Union, gender in various historical contexts, daily life in the East Bloc, and Fin-de-Siècle Europe | |
