BiographyJanet Wilson is an Associate Professor in the School of Theatre, where she teaches acting. After earning her B.A. in speech/theatre from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1977, she spent over a decade in New York City, where she obtained memberships in the professional actor unions (Equity, SAG & AFTRA). She earned her M.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2001, where she developed a research interest in women playwrights. Recent acting credits include her roles as Dr. Cody in the short film Last Exit, Mrs. Dean in Bury the Dead, and Muriel in Heartland Theatre’s production of Tiny Island. Recent directing credits include A Piece of My Heart, by Shirley Lauro, for the AmeriCulture Arts Festival in Massachusetts, Roosters, by Milcha Sanchez-Scott, for ISU’s Crossroads Theatre, and the world premiere of Hopeless Spinning, by Margaret E. Iha, at ISU. Shame the Devil! An Audience with Fanny Kemble, which she directed, has toured nationally for the past five years. This one-woman tour de force about the nineteenth-century British actress, author, abolitionist, wife, and mother featuring Lori Adams has garnered critical acclaim. | |
